I am Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Université de Montréal (Canada). AOS : German Idealism – German Romanticism – Transcendental Philosophy – Metaphysics – Philosophy of Imagination and of Image – Philosophy and Literature – Aesthetics.

After completing a Master's degree at the UCLouvain (Louvain-la-Neuve), I earned a PhD in Philosophy from the UCLouvain (Saint-Louis – Bruxelles), in 2011. There I worked as a faculty lecturer and then as an adjunct professor and Co-Director of the Centre Prospéro – Langage, image et connaissance. After my dissertation, I completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Vienna and the Technische Universität Berlin, before obtaining a three-year position as a researcher with the Belgian Fonds National de recherches scientifiques (2012-2015), while working as an associate researcher at the Collège d’études de la philosophie allemande classique et contemporaine at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne. I was then awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, allowing me to continue my research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften until the summer of 2015. I was hired as an Assistant Professor in German Philosophy at the Université de Montréal in the fall of 2015. Since 2020, I am Associate Professor at the Université de Montréal. From 2016 to 2021, I also held the Canadian Research Chair in Transcendental Philosophy (Tier 2).

I have published extensively on post-Kantian philosophy, in philosophy of the imagination, philosophy of literature and aesthetics, with some forays into ethics. I am the author of four monographs (L'opacité du sensible chez Fichte et Novalis. Subjectivité, mélancolie, création, Ousia, 2021) as well as some fifty articles and several translations from German, and the editor or co-editor of numerous collective works and special issues of scientific journals. With Mildred Galland-Szymkowiak (CNRS/ENS), I co-edit the trilingual (German, French, English) collection “Ideal&Real. Aspekte und Perspektiven des Deutschen Idealismus” at LIT-Verlag. Along with several other researchers, I co-direct the Laboratoire de recherche sur l’idéalisme et la philosophie allemande moderne at the Université de Montréal.
